Children in Need

Eunice is 6 years old. She attended Primary 1 for only two terms last year, before being forced to leave because her single mother could not afford the school fees. Her mother abandoned Eunice and her 5 sisters and 2 brothers in the care of her grandparents. Her father's whereabouts are unknown. She lives in Nabyunyu Village. The grand father is very old and weak and is not able to provide for the family. The mother owns ½ an acre of land, but without money they have not been able to build on or use the land. We would love to get Eunice back in school with the supplies she needs to have the best chance at a brighter life. |

Ezra is 10 years old. He lives in in the Eastern part of Uganda. Ezra is the 2nd youngest child in his family; he has five brothers and four sisters. Ezra's mother also takes care of two children who lost their parents. Ezra lives with his mother and the other eleven children. His father abandoned the family after getting into debt and using the small piece of family land on which they live as collateral. Ezra's mother struggles to find a way to repay the debt so they can continue to live on their land. Most of Ezra’s older siblings have been forced to drop out of school because there is no money to pay for school. Helping Hands Uganda already supports his younger sister Doreen, and we would love to offer Ezra the same chance to continue schooling and create a better life for himself and his family. |

Gershem is 12 years old in Nabyunyu Village. He is in Primary 5. Gershem is the youngest child, with one brother and two sisters. He lives with his grandmother, his single mother left home to search for work in a nearby town. His parents separated while Gershem was just one year old and the father is not providing any support. Two of his older siblings were forced to leave secondary school because their family could not pay the school fees; the other sibling completed Primary 7 last year, but may not be able to return to school because of cost. His family survives on a tiny piece of land belonging to the grandmother. We would love to help give Gershem and his family greater stability. Often our helping one child in a family indirectly helps provide the entire family greater stability because the expenses we cover for that child frees up money that can now be spent to give all the other children a greater chance. |

Nathan is 10 years old. He is in Primary 4. He lives with his mother and his 5 brothers and 1 sister. The mother struggles to provide for her children on their borrowed piece of land in Mukuba Village. We can make a huge impact on Nathan, and indirectly his family through this sponsorship. |

Joy is 5 years old. She does not go to school yet. She lives with her father and mother in the Bugiri district. She has two younger brothers. The family lives in a small grass hut and cultivate food on a ½ plot of swampy land to survive. We can get Joy into school and by doing that help the whole family. |
